The Spy X Family anime has been confirmed to continue with a second season. Not only that, but a feature film has also been announced to be released in 2023. This feature film will contain original stories that are not in the comic. Muryō no eiga
Spy x Family itself is a Japanese comic about spies by Tatsuya Endo. This comic tells the story of the Forger family who keep secrets. The father, Loid is the greatest secret agent. The mother, Yor is an assassin. The child, Anya has the ability to read minds. Although they are just a fake family who keep secrets from each other, there is warmth there.
This comic itself has been published in Indonesia by the publisher Elex Media Komputindo, and has become a best seller. This anime has also been dubbed into Indonesian. Take a peek at our review of the comic below:
Spy x Family Comic Review Vol. 1: Wholesome!
In 2019, a manga caught the world's attention. With an interesting story and stunning action, the manga managed to dominate the market. Of course, that manga was Kimetsu no Yaiba. However, also in 2019, a new manga series was released that also caught the attention of many with a unique and heartfelt story. That manga is Spy x Family (pronounced Spy Family).
There is only one word that can describe this manga: Wholesome.
Written by Tatsuya Endo, the story of the Spy x Family manga is simple. A super spy named Twilight/Loid must go undercover to create a happy family, where the son Anya is an esper, and the mother Yor is a hitman. Simple.
This premise, which can be considered quite "refreshing", is one of the attractions of this comic. However, what is the use of a unique premise if there is no good execution. And the execution of this comic ... extraordinary.
Japanese Box Office Weekends For 2022 | Dec 17-18
From the first chapter, we are taken into the action-packed spy world of Twilight / Loid, and in the first chapter, we are confronted with the cuteness of Anya. The mix and contrast between these two things is what makes Spy x Family manga interesting, a mix that is mixed with a story that is full of emotion and humanity. It is something that even from the first chapter alone can captivate anyone who reads.
The contrast between the spy world, and the slice of life comedy in this comic also results in a comic full of light and funny comedy. As a spy comic, this comic has a lot of action portions ala James Bond or Jason Bourne, and the comedy ala "Eggsy" or even Johnny English and the Cortez brothers gives a lot of human value and a ... "light" impression to this comic. When it's funny, it's very funny, but when it comes to action, it's not going to be outdone by other action comics.
And of course, not to be missed is how the author manages to mix all of the above into one with images and pacing that are extremely pleasing to the eye and comfortable to read. An especially important point is how many of these comics have panels or images that are very suitable to be made into memes or spread on social media. This is probably one of the main attractions of this comic, especially with its position as a digitally released comic on the Shonen Jump+ platform.
With these things, it's not wrong if some people think this comic is good. It's also not wrong that, with Anya's behavior and antics, some people find this comic funny. And it's not wrong either, with the many touching moments, some people find this comic wholesome. Clearly, this comic is a very good work, and not reading it is a great sin.

But, after discussing the content of this comic, there is something that needs to be discussed. How did this comic fare when it was released in Indonesia? The answer: very satisfactorily.
Released by Elex Media, Spy x Family is released in a different format than most comics. With premium paper, this comic is bigger and thicker than other comics. The paper is pleasant to read and hold. And because it is heavier, this release feels more comfortable to read. Speaking of paper, this release has three color opening pages, THREE!
Another thing to look out for in this release is the translations, which are hilarious and fun to read. The way the jokes and comedy are delivered in this release reminds me of how Elex Media handles the translations in their Komikus Shoujo Nozaki/Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun releases (and upon further inspection, it turns out to be done by the same person, WOW).
With its high quality, this is a premium release. With a luxurious feel, this Spy x Family release is not only good for reading, but also has great collectible value. It's something that one of the best comics of 2019 deserves.
